SikaFume® is an advanced concrete additive formulated using silica fume technology to meet the highest performance demands in modern concrete construction. Supplied as a fine grey powder, it contains extremely fine, latently reactive silicic dioxide that improves both fresh and hardened concrete properties. In fresh concrete, SikaFume® enhances internal cohesion and water retention, resulting in improved workability, excellent pumpability, and high stability of green concrete. These characteristics make it particularly suitable for shotcrete, precast concrete, and structural concrete applications where consistent quality and placement performance are critical. In hardened concrete, the reactive silica fume chemically bonds with free lime (Ca(OH)₂), forming additional hydration products that significantly densify the cement matrix. This results in higher ultimate strength, increased abrasion resistance, enhanced water and gas tightness, and superior durability. Concrete containing SikaFume® demonstrates excellent resistance to freeze–thaw cycles, de-icing salts (when used with air entrainers), and chloride penetration, making it suitable for aggressive environments. As the product contains no chlorides or corrosion-promoting substances, it can be safely used in reinforced and prestressed concrete without restriction. SikaFume® complies with EN 13263-1 standards and is ideal for applications where long-term performance, durability, and structural integrity are essential.
