A Rare Louis XV Ormolu-Mounted Tulipwood and Chinese Lacquer cabinet, c. 1750 (Regence Period) A truly magnificent, monumental, and one of a kind cabinet, painted throughout with gilt and polychrome Chinese lacquer from the 18th century, and mounted with elegant French bronze mounts. Comes with three original gilt-bronze keys, and original shelves. 71″ high x 85″ wide 18″ deep Provenance:Acquired from Kugel, Paris, October 2008.The Metropolitan Museum of Art has recently used this cabinet as a reference to Karl Lagerfeld’s inspiration for an evening coat:House of Chanel Karl Lagerfeld House of Lesage, evening coat – Fall/Winter 1996-1997, Haute Coutoure on Display.
